Board of County Commissioners

  • BoCC adopted a proclamation declaring Sept. 13-19, 2026, as National Suicide Prevention Week.
  • BoCC adopted a proclamation declaring Sept. 13-19, 2026, as National Co-Responder and Crisis Responder Week.
  • BoCC adopted a proclamation declaring Sept. 17-23, 2026, as Constitution Week.
  • BoCC approved consent agenda Items D-M with the exception of Item E: Adult and Juvenile Comprehensive Plan TY2026 Year End reports.
  • BoCC approved the recommendations of the Board of Bids and Contracts’ regular meeting on Sept. 10, 2026.
  • BoCC received and filed a presentation of the Sedgwick County Suicide Prevention Coalition 2025 Data Report.
  • BoCC approved DER2025-00022: amendment to the July 9, 2009, edition of the Wichita-Sedgwick County Unified Zoning Code, adopted by City of Wichita ordinance No. 48-431 and Sedgwick County resolution No. 137-09, as amended, dealing with accessory apartments.
  • BoCC approved the letter of intent between Sedgwick County and the Wichita Airport Authority related to a joint Sedgwick County Sheriff-Kansas Highway Patrol hangar at Jabara Airport.
  • BoCC received and filed a resolution and service plan from the City of Goddard regarding a proposed unilateral annexation.
  • BoCC deferred Item S: transaction fee increase for the Sedgwick County Treasurer’s Office. The item was deferred to the BoCC meeting on Sept. 23, 2026.
  • BoCC received and filed a presentation of Adult and Juvenile Comprehensive Plan FY2026 Year End reports.

Upcoming Events

  • The City of Derby is celebrating Third Thursday and Derby Market on Sept. 17 from 5-8 p.m. at Madison Avenue Central Park, 512 E. Madison Ave. The evening’s entertainment highlight will be the Derby Recreation Commission Sing-off. The event also features food and drinks, family-friendly activities and more than 40 Derby Market vendors. City of Derby Third Thursday
  • The Wichita Foundation Amphitheater at Exploration Place is hosting RiverFlix for the 2026 season. The public is invited to bring blankets, snacks and a sense of adventure, with food trucks and seating opening at 6 p.m. The event is free and open to all ages.   • The City of Haysville will hold a special cleanup event in honor of National Cleanup Day on Saturday, Sept. 19, from 8-10 a.m. at 400 W. 79th S. City of Haysville | National Cleanup Day
  • Open Streets ICT is back on Sunday, Sept. 20, from noon-4 p.m. Enjoy a car-free day on 2 miles of Douglas Avenue, from Grove Street to Waco Street. Explore local businesses, food vendors and interactive activities while enjoying live music, entertainment and performances along the route.
